2020 Annual Picnic Canceled
Due too the uncertainty of an end date for sheltering-in-place, the MODA Board is regretfully canceling our Annual Picnic for 2020. The remainder of the neighborhood events will be reviewed to determine if they can be held in accordance with San Mateo County Health Officer Statements. “People at all levels of risk should know, if they venture out, and interact with others outside of their households, that they have a chance of getting infected and passing the virus on to their household members.”
The MODA picnic, put on by the Menlo Oaks District Association, is one of its two “official meetings” held during the year. Residents bring their favorite salads and desserts; MODA grills the hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken. This annual picnic, more recently held under the oaks at Peninsula School, goes back many years, to at least 1956, which is as far back as any of the attendees can remember. More than 200 children and adults attend this year, enjoying face painting, badminton, music, great food, and each other’s company. The 2019 Annual Picnic was Sunday, June 2.
