Picnic with BBQ

Annual Events

The MODA Board and other volunteers have been organizing events for residents for many years. The Annual picnic dates back to the 60s, and newer events have been added since then—all in an effort to build a sense of community.  No better has this been expressed than through the annual Halloween Party.

The Neighborhood Yard Sale was added in 2018—in that same spirit. More than 20 homeowners participated, and there were 5 lemonade/cookie stands run by youngsters and their parents.  At the annual meeting, it was voted to continue this activity.

In 2019, a fun run, the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot was added.  Held on the Saturday before  Thanksgiving, neighbors followed one of several courses that wound through Menlo Oaks. Runners, walkers, dog walkers and stroller pushers were able to get a little exercise in before settling down to Thanksgiving dinners.

2020 Events Canceled

Due to the uncertainty caused by COVID-19, the MODA Board is regretfully canceling all events this year.  Neighborhood events for 2021 will be reviewed to determine if they can be held in accordance with San Mateo County Health Officer Statements. “People at all levels of risk should know, if they venture out, and interact with others outside of their households, that they have a chance of getting infected and passing the virus on to their household members.”
